Houston, TX – The much-anticipated Great Wolf Lodge has officially opened its doors in Webster, Texas, just a short drive from Houston. This exciting addition to the Houston area promises to be a premier destination for family fun and adventure.
The Great Wolf Lodge in Webster celebrated its grand opening on August 7, 2024. Originally slated for a Labor Day weekend debut, the opening was moved up, allowing families to enjoy the new resort during the summer vacation season. The resort is the second Great Wolf Lodge in Texas, following the success of the Grapevine location near Dallas-Fort Worth.
A World of Water Fun
Spanning 27 acres, the resort features a massive 95,000 square-foot indoor water park, kept at a comfortable 84 degrees year-round. Highlights include the Otter Cave Waterworks, a multi-story water play structure with spray jets, body slides, and a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. Other attractions include the Texas Twirler, an exhilarating family raft ride, and the High Pay Holler body slide.
Beyond the Water Park
In addition to the water park, Great Wolf Lodge offers a 58,000 square-foot Great Wolf Adventure Park. This area includes a variety of attractions such as the Howler’s Peak Ropes Course, MagiQuest, and the Northern Lights Arcade. Families can also enjoy themed suites, including the KidCabin and Wolf Den suites, designed to provide a unique and immersive experience for children.
The opening day was not without its challenges. A chemical release incident sent 16 workers to the hospital, but the issue was quickly resolved, and the resort was cleared to open to the public. The resort emphasizes safety and cleanliness, with life jackets and towels provided in the water park and sanitary spaces maintained throughout the lodge.
